John the Baptist

Welcome to the bible teaching Series a study of John the Baptist.
This series will help study the bible as it is God's word. It is my belief that the bible is one of the most important books to understand period, but especially as it relates to the supernatural gifts.
We must be rooted in God’s word. So take a seat, grab your Bible and let’s study God’s word together.

While you are reading, ask God to give you fresh eyes to see and ears to hear what He is saying on each page. This isn’t meant to be a religious duty, but a fresh encounter with God through His word. So as you read through the Bible every day ask Him to give you a new revelation

Day 1 - Read Luke 1: 5-25; 39-45; 57-80

Challenge Questions

  1. Why do you think the Angel made Zechariah silent but not Mary when he asked “how could these things be?”

  2. What do you think it means “to go forth in the Spirt and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the Father’s to the Children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord, a people prepared?”

History of John-Background

Re-Read Luke 1:80

80 And the child grew and became strong in the Spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

It is believed that John was a part of a sect of Jews called the Essene, which is why he lived in the wilderness. The Essenes believed in living completely separate from the world system, especially the Hellenistic world system.

Application -Obedience loosened his tongue…

Zechariah’s tongue was loosed by his obedience. He obeyed God and God opened his mouth. Obedience gives us a boldness. Is there any area of your life where you need to grow in your obedience? Is there something the Lord has shown or spoken to you that you need to do that might loosen the flow of blessing in your life or release freedom?

Day 2 -Read Matthew 3: 1-11

Who was John the Baptist?

The Spirit and Power of Elijah

  2. Why do you think John the Baptist rebuked the Pharisees and Sadducees so sharply?

  3. Why did John not want to baptize Jesus?
