Words of Correction
How to give a word of Correction?
If any man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted” (Galatians 6:1).
The exposure of sin is the first step of restoration and he should work to complete the process by addressing the sin with Grace and gentleness, not with pride or arrogance.
Don’t jump to conclusions or look for confirmation. Letting something “marinate” or sit with the word for a while before you address the situation unless God makes it clear he wants it addressed quickly. Avoid jumping to conclusions!
Just because you sense a person is being deceptive, it doesn’t mean you need to quickly react to their dishonesty. Just because you are right doesn’t mean you should react harshly to sin.
Check your pride! I know I mentioned this before, but remember, the goal is to restore your brother. If the person is unrepentant allow leadership to deal with the issue. If you are a leader, then you will need to address the issue with as much grace as possible. Grace does not mean a lack of firmness. It simply means that love should be your chief goal.
